The shape curves and opens at the top – reflecting hope, and a willingness to be filled. To be filled with what – depends on the viewer. That is the goal of my art – to allow each person who views it, to see their own vision as well as mine.

My mother encouraged all of her children to experiment in any and all mediums. One of the most enduring in our household was quilting. By the time I was a teenager, I was sure I would become a fashion designer, even though I was developing painting and design work that was already on display. A scholarship to art school led me to focus on design, painting and sculpture.

My challenge was to expand the tradition of quilting into a new vision of my world. I moved from two dimensional fiber art to three dimensional “art quilts.”
